Homecoming is a big deal and on Saturday, Oct 1 it became even bigger with  the return of the homecoming dance. Under the Christmas lights and amidst the fog, 230 students mostly dressed in jerseys danced to today’s popular music, which was well played by a DJ that the student council hired. The cafeteria and halls were amazingly decorated with many different types of sports equipment and clothing, that was donated by students and alumni, to go along with the jersey theme. There were also numerous different large posters, which were painted in vibrant colors to represent school organization and promote spirit, that were hung along the walls for the students to take memorable photos. DECA offered snacks and drinks for $1 at a concession that was offered to raise money for their own organization. With entry being $5 and the DJ costing $300, $850 was raised by Student Council, which is an amazing feat and will help fund the organization throughout the year. According to STUCO advisor Dawn Wainscott, the turnout and success of the dance was much more than anyone anticipated. Many students seemed to enjoy the dance (including myself) and it should be a recurring event that will last many years.img_5437 img_5461
