Staff Picks: Mocking Girl from Badlands- Mockingjay, Part 2

As of November 20, 2015 “Mockingjay, Part Two” has fans everywhere heated over the emotionally conflicting finale. As a fan of the books, I could not be more ecstatic about the outcome of the last Hunger Games movie, but as a human with regular emotions I could also not be more upset. With surprising tragedies around each corner and Peeta’s return, this movie will easily captivate anyone who lays eyes on it. I, for one, was practically on the edge of my seat the entire time.

Since the movie first released in 2012, Katniss, played by Jennifer Lawrence, has grown into her role as a savior, and she definitely doesn’t disappoint in the sendoff of this beloved series. Through the twists and turns Katniss manages to remain faithful to the person she was when she entered the games, yet have all kinds of character development that only makes the story more fascinating. She’s a woman who just wants to save her family and give the entire nation of Panem a better future, no matter what it takes. And I must say, it takes quite a bit.

All in all the movie was wonderful. I love the theme. I love the characters. I love how this series can represent so many different things to so many different people.

It is a story of war and peace, a mix of past and present, love and hate. It’s so familiar to the world we live in yet so new and incredible. The movie also has an amazingly strong female lead, which always appeals to me. I fell in love when I first saw “The Hunger Games,” and years later I’m just as in love with “Mockingjay, Part Two.”

Suzanne Collins has created quite the masterpiece, both on paper and on screen, and I recommend it anyone who hasn’t yet to go see the last of one of my favorite series so far.
