App pick of the month: Impossible Breakfast Simulator

The bird flies up; the bird falls down. The spoon fills with cereal; the cereal enters the mouth. The arm with the spoon lowers it to the bowl, then raises it again. The bird continues to fly between gray pipes. It hits a pipe, and the cereal bowl goes flying instead.

This is the core gameplay of “Impossible Breakfast Simulator,” a free app game that offers hours upon hours of time-killing … fun, I guess. Players control a man who is simultaneously eating cereal while playing an easier version of “Flappy Bird.” To play, players swipe the right hand side of the screen to control the cereal arm while tapping the left-hand side to play “Flappy Bird” on the man’s phone. And that’s it.

While this game doesn’t sound fun, it gets intense once one decides to go for really high scores, and after one gets used to it, it’s actually pretty relaxing.

Until the man loses at “Flappy Bird” and tosses his cereal bowl.
